The Cassidy Chronicles

A Self-Serving Blog

Hiatus [Chronicles]

It’s been a while since I posted anything, you may have (but probably didn’t) noticed. I took a break for a little while to work on some other writing projects. The purpose of this blog was to keep myself writing. So if I was writing “off the record,” I didn’t need to post anything here, right? Anyway, in light of my renewed vigor for my other projects and the amount of stress I put myself in trying to post something new every weekday, I’m calling an indefinite hiatus on the blog. Pulling the plug, as it were.

But fear not! I’ve started a no pressure, no rules Tumblr site, where I’ll share things I think are interesting in likely few words. It is HERE. See you there, friends!

Rope Theory, Part 5: Tension Relief [Theories]

Welcome to the final day of Rope Theory, “Rope Theory, Part 5: Tension Relief.” If you haven’t read Part 1Part 2Part 3, or Part 4 yet, maybe you should do that before continuing on. By this point I’m sure you know the drill. I try to convince you to read the other parts by using some unnecessary metaphor that compares you not reading the other parts first with being in a situation where you’re completely unprepared and/or in mortal danger. So read them, because I don’t feel like going through that whole production again. Read more of this post

Rope Theory, Part 4: Tension [Theories]

Welcome to “Rope Theory, Part 4: Tension.” If you haven’t read Part 1, Part 2, or Part 3 yet, maybe you should do that before continuing on. Really. I’m not joking. You know that dream you have where you’re naked and at school? And you know the feeling that goes with that dream? Well, unless you’re a sicko who likes the feeling of waking up naked in a public place, you should really read the other parts first. Get it done. Read more of this post

Why is Glass Transparent? [Wednesday Watch This]

This week’s Wednesday Watch This is an explanation of why we can see through solid glass, but not through other solids. And it’s done in a reasonable way for laypeople (like myself) to understand. It’s really pretty awesome. I had no idea how this worked. You should really check it out. And for more sciency goodness, be sure to check out the Sixty Symbols website.

Rope Theory, Part 3: Toughness [Theories]

Welcome to “Rope Theory, Part 3: Toughness.” If you haven’t read Part 1 and Part 2 yet, maybe you should do that before continuing on. I’m super serious. Not reading them first is like swimming in shark infested waters, except that instead of a wetsuit, you accidentally put on your chum suit. Yikes! Did you read them yet? Read more of this post
